In Visions, I begin with a typical studio-shot portrait, which I then manipulate with processes that leave their own unique impression on the subject’s presence. Distorting the photo through scannography, transferring the image onto a primed panel and painting back into it, I am performing a balancing act of allowing the chance-based “warping” have just as much control over the image’s outcome as my own hand.
